My Experience at Phuket Michelin Star Restaurants | A Culinary Journey

Home » Stories » My Experience at Phuket Michelin Star Restaurants | A Culinary Journey

During my stay in Phuket, I had the chance to visit some Phuket Michelin star restaurants. Each one offers something unique, from exceptional dishes to stunning atmospheres.

If you are planning a trip to Phuket, dining at a Michelin star restaurant should definitely be on your list.

In this blog, I’ll share my experiences at some of the best Michelin-starred restaurants in Phuket. I’ll take you through their menus, the atmosphere, and why each place left such an impression on me. Let’s dive in!

PRU – The First Michelin Star in Phuket

Location: 60/1 Moo 6, Srisoonthorn Road,Cherngtalay, Thalang, Phuket

PRU is known for fresh, local ingredients. The food menu consists of modern Thai with international flavors.

I loved how they grow their own ingredients. It made the meal feel special. The chefs work in an open kitchen, so you can see the magic happen. The views of the ocean are amazing. If you visit, you’ll enjoy both the food and the atmosphere.

My Thoughts

I recently visited PRU for a special occasion. Chefs Jimmy and Flo, along with their team, created a unique and creative meal for us.

PRU has a Michelin Green Star, and it lived up to the promise. One highlight was the smoked durian. I don’t like durian, but the smoky flavor made it very enjoyable.

The food looked amazing, but not all dishes stood out. Some dishes are memorable, some are not. The price is a little high.

There are some things that could be better. The language barrier made it hard to understand the dishes. I recommend using Google Translate.

Overall, PRU has potential. The service was great, but the ambiance and consistency need a little improvement.

Pru Phuket Restaurant

L’Arome by the Sea – Michelin Star Dining in Phuket

Location: 247/5 Prabarami Rd, Patong, Kathu, Phuket

L’Arome by the Sea, located in Patong, Phuket, is a Michelin-starred restaurant. It offers a fine French dining experience with a tasting menu called Vue sur la Mer. The restaurant focuses on high-quality seafood and seasonal ingredients. The ocean views add to the elegance of the setting.

My Thoughts

L’Arome by the Sea might be my most favorite restaurant in Phuket.

We chose the 10-course tasting menu with wine pairings. Every dish was well-crafted. The lobster and scallops were outstanding. Each bite was full of flavor. The presentation was stunning. The wine pairings made everything taste even better.

Before dinner, we enjoyed drinks at the rooftop bar. The sunset view was breathtaking. It was the perfect start to the night.

Once inside, we had the Prestige Menu. We also tried oysters, which were fresh and delicious. The wine selection was impressive.

Most dishes were exceptional. The air conditioning could have been cooler. But these were minor details.

The staff was warm and welcoming. They paid close attention to every detail.

The ambiance was elegant yet relaxed. It felt perfect for a special night out.

The view, food, and service made up for everything. I highly recommend this place.

La Gritta – Italian Fine Dining in Phuket

Location: 2 Muen-ngern Road Patong Beach,Kathu, Phuket

La Gritta is a beautiful Italian restaurant in Phuket. It is located at Amari Phuket, right by the sea. The restaurant offers classic Italian dishes with a modern touch. Fresh ingredients and authentic flavors make every dish special. The ocean view, especially at sunset, creates a romantic atmosphere.

My Thoughts

During my visit here, I noticed that the staff were friendly and attentive. However, at times, the service didn’t quite match the restaurant’s upscale reputation. For example, even though many outdoor tables were free, the staff were hesitant to let us sit outside, which was disappointing.

The menu features a variety of Italian dishes. The bread service was a nice touch, with three types served in a row.

We ordered the duck dish. It was amazing, but other dishes were just okay. The wine list is extensive, but some higher end options are on the pricey side.

Overall, La Gritta has great views and a nice atmosphere. The food and service have their highlights, but there’s room for improvement in consistency and guest attention.

Thai michelin Star restaurant food in phuket

Blue Elephant Phuket – A Taste of Tradition and Elegance

Blue Elephant Phuket offers a unique dining experience in a beautiful old mansion. The restaurant serves traditional Thai cuisine with a modern twist. It focuses on fresh, local ingredients, and the menu is rich in flavors. The setting is elegant, with a charming blend of history and modern comfort.

My Thoughts

Blue Elephant Phuket has a stunning setting. The colonial mansion is surrounded by lush gardens. The service is excellent. Staff are friendly, attentive, and know the menu well. Erwin, in particular, gets high praise for his service.

The food is flavorful and beautifully presented. Dishes like fish cakes, chicken satay, crab curry, and tofu pad Thai stand out. The crab curry is balanced, sweet, and spicy. The tofu pad Thai has a nice crunch on the outside and a soft texture inside. The spring rolls are crispy with tender veggies inside.

However, the prices are on the higher side. The portions in the set menu are small. Some say that ordering from the regular menu might give bigger portions at a similar price. Despite this, the food quality is impressive.

If you’re looking for a special meal in a beautiful setting, Blue Elephant is a great choice. The experience is memorable, but it comes at a higher cost.

Price Review

The prices reflect the premium quality of the food and ambiance.

  • Set Menus – Starting at around $45–$80 per person for a multi-course experience.

  • À La Carte – Individual dishes range from $10–$30, depending on the selection.

  • Cocktails – $8–$12.

Thai food in phuket michelin star restaurant

Talung Thai – A Hidden Gem in Phuket

This rooftop restaurant offers spectacular views of the Andaman Sea. The ambiance here is elegant, with a relaxed vibe. The menu features a unique twist on traditional Thai cuisine.

My Thoughts

Talung Thai is certainly on the expensive side, but there are a few things that justify the higher cost. The ingredients are fresh, and the seafood, especially the tiger shrimp, was delicious. The restaurant’s location on a cliffside offers a beautiful atmosphere. Also, the service is friendly and attentive.

That said, the prices feel high for the overall experience. A bottle of water costs 280 baht, which seems excessive. The food was good but didn’t match the Michelin star standards in terms of flavor and creativity.

The view and setting are nice, but slow service affected the experience.

Overall, Talung Thai is expensive. It has a beautiful setting, fresh ingredients, and friendly service, but it may not be worth the price.

Price Review

Talung Thai offers a refined dining experience with traditional Thai dishes at premium prices.

Menu Pricing

  • Main Dishes: $14–$25 (e.g., Green Curry, Stewed Pork Belly, Penang Chicken Curry).

  • Stir-Fried Dishes: $14–$18 (e.g., Chicken Pad Kra Pao, Beef Pad Kra Pao).

  • Grilled Specialties: $9–$25 (e.g., Grilled Tiger Prawns, Seabass).

  • Soups: $15.50 (e.g., Tom Yum Goong, Tom Kha Gai).

  • Desserts: $9.50 (e.g., Mango Sticky Rice, Jackfruit Sticky Rice).

Extra Charges

  • 17.7% service charge and tax.

Reservations

  • Recommended for special occasions and peak seasons.

Conclusion:

Phuket’s Michelin-star restaurants offer more than just food. They deliver unforgettable experiences.

PRU shines with fresh, local ingredients and stunning ocean views. L’Arôme by the Sea serves fine French dishes while you enjoy beautiful sunsets. Talung Thai adds a modern twist to traditional Thai cuisine, all with a view of the Andaman Sea.

Though the prices are high, the quality of food, service, and atmosphere make it worth it. These restaurants offer top-notch dining.

If you’re in Phuket, don’t miss out on these Michelin-starred gems. They’re worth the visit!
